About Us:
Founded in 1967, The Arc of Loudoun advocates for, educates, serves, and supports people with disabilities and their families. Through its five primary programs—Ability Fitness Center, A Life Like Yours (ALLY) Advocacy Center, Aurora Behavior Clinic, The Aurora School, and Open Door Learning Center preschool—The Arc of Loudoun strives to bring about a just, equitable world for people with disabilities.
Services:
Inclusive preschool for children ages 2-7 with and without disabilities; a fitness center for people who have survived stroke, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, or have neurological disorders including cerebral palsy, down syndrome, Parkinson’s disease; a behavior clinic for children ages 2 – 22 with Autism and other intellectual and development disabilities who need 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) there, social skills development, functional analysis and assessment, behavior plan development, IEP consultations, and diagnosis assistance; a private school for children ages 5 – 22 primarily with severe Autism and other disabilities; and advocacy support, resource referrals for local, state, and federal-level support, emergency financial assistance, recreational activities and events, systemic advocacy and awareness, and workshops and training opportunities for people with disabilities and their families.

Denise has championed people with disabilities since she was in grade school and is passionate about fundraising and marketing for causes that support families raising children with special needs. Originally from Texas and after graduating from Hardin-Simmons University with a BA in Public Relations, she began her career in promotion and advertising agencies working with such clients as Snapple, Chick-Fil-A, and Labatt USA. Her career in nonprofits began when she joined Special Olympics International, managing their national cause marketing partners and campaigns for Procter & Gamble, Kodak, M&Ms, and Coca-Cola. She continued her career in nonprofits where she directed corporate partnerships and strategic events for the American Red Cross of the National Capital Region, the American Heart Association of the Greater Washington Region, and most recently, served as Vice President of Advancement for Jill’s House, a respite center for children with special needs headquartered in McLean, VA. Denise has generated over $42 million for nonprofits and their missions. She also owns her own event audio production company and serves as a technical production volunteer at her church. She joined The Arc of Loudoun in July of 2017 and is honored to be leading the charge of generating the resources needed to help create a lifetime of opportunities for people with disabilities.
